Québec - a dash of Europe in Canada
Québec, only 7 hours away from the UK, is Canada’s largest province and has a legacy of aboriginal
French and British civilisations. Stretching from the Great Lakes
to the Atlantic Ocean, the Province of Québec is immense and
is able to offer a wide variety of experiences. Cosmopolitan and historic
cities, extensive pristine wilderness areas with 27 National or Provincial
Parks, all enable you to blend a city stay with a true wildlife experience.
|
Why choose Québec?
Montréal and Québec City are the gateways to the Province of Québec’s Great Outdoors. Montréal is well connected to the UK with direct flights from London and flights from many UK regional airports via Paris or Amsterdam. The city has much to offer, it buzzes with activity,
proudly preserves its architectural heritage, while continuing to modernise and move into the future.
The neighbourhoods in Montréal each have their own distinctive market
contrasting with the sophisticated shopping in the main areas.
Québec City, established in 1608, is one of the oldest cities in Canada
and holds a special place in its history. The battle of Québec City
between General Wolfe and General Montcalm, effectively decided Canada’s
destiny to become part of the British Empire. The only walled city
in North America and a UNESCO World Heritage site, it contains some
of the very best restaurants in Canada and some great pavement cafes.
Outside the two well known cities, rural Québec has some fascinating architecturally different towns and small villages. Often set in rolling farmland, you can enjoy a real small town feeling,
where everybody knows everybody.
There is extensive wilderness areas in the National/Provincial Parks
to enjoy and encounter nature. The province has a large population
of moose, bears and wolves and if you follow our fly drive itinerary
you will travel through areas with a realistic chance of seeing all
three. The biggest surprise however is possibly the 12 species of
whales and sea mammals, regularly found off Tadoussac.
In Québec, you can enjoy La Bonne Vie (The Good Life) - you will be glad you came.
