Ever since the first white man landed in Canada, the rivers and lakes
have been vital highways across this vast country. The French Canadian
voyageurs and the men of the British Hudson Bay Company had only the
rivers to explore and develop the land. There was no mass immigration
to the centre of Canada until the railway was built which illustrates
the importance of river traffic.

of the Yukon, NWT and British Columbia are amongst the most popular.
