Canada Holidays: Gem of the Day

"The Spell of the Yukon" with the White Pass & Yukon Route

Take an unforgettable journey aboard the “Scenic Railway of the World” to the White Pass summit. Begin your excursion as you board the train in Skagway and travel 20 miles from tidewater, to the Summit of the White Pass – a 2,865 foot elevation!

Travel with one of our steam locomotives, Engine No. 73 or Engine No. 69, six miles beyond the White Pass Summit to Fraser Meadows. No other railroad is quite like the White Pass & Yukon Route. Against all odds, the iron trail was carved through some of the North’s most rugged terrain in 1898. This engineering wonder climbs nearly 3,000 feet in 26 miles of steep grades and cliff-hanging turns.

Fall under “The Spell of the Yukon” with the White Pass & Yukon Route, when you follow the trail of the Sourdoughs between Skagway, Alaska and Carcross Yukon. Follow the Skagway River up to the White Pass Summit and roll down into British Columbia to our restored 1903 station at Lake Bennett.

Combine on of our one-way train excursions with a motorcoach for extended service along the Klondike Highway. Motorcoach connections are available at Rail Stations in Skagway, Alaska - Fraser, British Columbia - Carcross, Yukon -Whitehorse, Yukon.
